Don’t forget, if you want to share your desktop, add it to the AppleViews Flickr Pool (it doesn’t have to be GeekTool either). Also, share this with others and spread the wealth!

    Tina!
I loved the article, “A Small List of Common GeekTool User Commands”, and i know that that is an old article, but i was looking for some help with the quote of the day script. The link you used is now dead and i can’t find a suitable replacement anywhere…. I’ve searched everywhere, but all the rss feeds i try always end up looking weird in geektools. Do you know of any good replacement sites??
BTW, the contact us section of this website BLOWS. It kept saying this was spam… WTF?!
    Thanks :)

I’m glad that you loved the article! As for the quote of the day script, I too have checked it out and you are correct. I am unable to find any answers. I have sent an email to the creator of GeekTool and will post the response as soon as I receive a reply. As for the contact form, I agree with you! It did BLOW!!! I got rid of the problem and it works correctly now. Thank you SO much for informing me of these problems. Have a wonderful evening.

    Awesome thanks Tina!
It’s just the RSS feed that has died, so as far as i see it, we would just need a feed that is similar to the original to replace it, but no luck there.
    Thanks Tina!

I just got response from creator who has also stated that it isn’t the geeklet….that it is the RSS feed. I will continue looking for a similar feed myself so that I may update the script. Hopefully we find something. Also, looking for a word of the day script for some others. Will update the list as soon as I can.
    Thanks so much!

    Michael.

I found a link that will work for quote of the day. Here is the code

    curl -s http://www.dailyzen.com/ | sed -n "//,//p"|sed -e "s/]*>//g" |strings|fold -sw60

try that out and let me know how it worked. I also updated the article with this geeklet. Oh, thanks for the compliment :D

I sent a geeklet to you to see if that works (the email you used). Also, I ended up sending a TIME.com quote of the day geeklet. I left instructions to try to help you out. Please reply to the email if you have problems. I’m sorry about the code.
